Hi, my name is Sullivan, and I am a writer, artist, storyteller, farmer’s market enthusiast, and ocean lover. I traded in the bright sunshine of the San Francisco Bay Area for the bright lights of New York City to work as a writer. Art and imagination have always been central to my life growing up and my life now as I explore my creativity through screenwriting, fashion and music journalism, and copywriting.

I graduated with a BA in Film and Television and a minor in Fashion Studies from Columbia College Chicago in December 2024.

My work is published in Off The Record Press where I am a staff writer, Iridium Magazine, and The Lab Magazine.

I have been so fortunate to have grown up with a creative family dedicated to supporting creativity and the arts and who have always encouraged me to follow my creative pursuits. I owe so much of my creativity and passion for art to my mom, who is the most creative person I know. Whether she was making Halloween costumes for me growing up, baking the most intricate birthday cakes, or giving countless hours to creating sets and props for our school musicals, her creative presence sparked something in me at a young age that has yet to be extinguished. Having the opportunity to travel and live in different countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Copenhagen, and Spain, starting at just a few months old, gave me the courage and optimism to chase my dreams because I was exposed to the endless possibilities available to me. Having these opportunities to travel and experience different cultures taught me how valuable creativity and art are to the world around me, a feeling I hope to convey in all my work. In a world that sometimes feels so divided and different, art brings us together. Writing has always been special for me because there are no limits, and I can let my imagination run wild, but writing wasn’t necessarily what younger Sullivan had in mind. My first venture into writing was around ten years old when I decided I wanted to write a novel that would become a movie so that I could star in said movie and become a famous actress. Through the strenuous process of writing a novel and starting from scratch more times than I can count, I fell in love with writing and soon discovered screenwriting. I had always loved movies, but for some reason, screenwriting was never an option I had considered before. I was immediately hooked because I could combine my passion for honest storytelling with my love for fashion in the form of costume and character design and attach my ideas to a more visual medium. To loosely quote Barbie, I left my dreams of becoming an actress behind to pursue my love for writing because I wanted to do the imagining. I didn’t want to be the idea. Throughout my life and studies, I have developed skills in screenwriting, editing, graphic design, fashion design, and photography in the hopes that my work will showcase the value of creativity and bring communities together by highlighting what it means to be human. While I have developed my skills by attending Columbia College Chicago, I started by teaching myself a majority of my skills out of a passion and determination to learn and grow as a creative. Being a woman in a field historically dominated by men is an important aspect of my work and through my art, I want to encourage more women and diverse voices to pursue writing careers, as I believe this is the best step the industry can take to create authentic stories that speak to a wide range of audiences.

xoxo,
